VSO’s chamber orchestra explores new scores for two winners of the 2023 Award for Best Integration of Music into Film: Born Under Punches (written and directed by Gaoyang Ganjin) and The Social Chameleon (Alex Ross). This concert is hosted and conducted by Matt LaRocca, and is presented in partnership with the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival.

Born Under Punches: Tyler is trapped in his father’s dream of being a boxing champion, but he’s put up with it for too long. A compact portrait of internal chaos and the pursuit of freedom, Born Under Punches is about finding yourself in the prison of other peoples’ expectations and breaking out.

The Social Chameleon: Cosmo the Chameleon doesn’t fit in with the other animals. No matter how hard he tries, he just can’t seem to find his place in the jungle. Then, everything changes when he meets another chameleon who shows him how to live by his own true colors.
