She is wearing a pink rain poncho and mountains blurry in the background.July 25, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra returns to its well-loved open-air concerts with “Summer Under the Stars” at the Rutland Fairgrounds. Conducted by VSO’s Creative Projects Chair Matt LaRocca, the program features Burlington-based singer-songwriter Francesca Blanchard (pictured right). In partnership with the Paramount Theatre, a dynamic 25-piece chamber orchestra plays music inspired by nature and the great outdoors. Reunite with the VSO at this family-friendly concert which includes Copland’s feisty “Hoedown,” selections from Bizet’s CarmenLibertango by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, Wood Notes by the legendary William Grant Still, and VSO musicians backing Blanchard in arrangements of several of her original songs.

Food trucks onsite with alcohol available for purchase. No outside alcohol may be brought in. We encourage you to bring a picnic, blanket and folding chairs. Flashlights are also suggested to help you find your way to your car after the sun has set.  Gates at 5pm – show at 6pm.
