Vermont Symphony Orchestra

David M. Wilson Memorial Farmers’ Night

Jaime Laredo, conductor

Winds take center stage for the VSO’s annual musical thank you to the State. Music Director Jaime Laredo leads the orchestra in an arrangement of Rachmaninoff’s popular Vocalise for flute and strings; Mozart’s Concert-Rondo, which features the French horn; and an excerpt from Wolf Ferrari’s Idillio Concertino for solo oboe. Our traditional student premiere is written by Jacob Dennison, a senior at Lake Region Union H.S. The program concludes with Haydn’s wonderful Symphony No. 49, “La Passione.”

Free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 pm.

aimg_4996“I am 17 years old, and I’m a composer and instrumentalist. I’ve had interest in composition ever since I was 12, and I’ve been playing the piano for as long as I can remember. Even before I could read music, I was interested in composing, and my first composition had to be memorized because I did not have a way of putting it on paper yet. Ever since then, my love for composition has grown, and not only do I write sheet music, I compose electronic music as well. I also find enjoyment in the visual arts, which includes drawing and graphic design. I am a senior at Lake Region Union H.S. in Orleans, and after I graduate, I plan to go to college for audio engineering, pursuing a career working in a recording studio.”
