Family Concert – Symphony of Whales

VSO String Quartet Halloween Family Concert: “A Symphony of Whales”

Date: Sunday, October 29 at 2:00 pm

Location: Haskell Opera House, Derby Line

About: This kid-friendly concert includes an introduction of the instruments and several seasonally spooky selections.  The highlight of the performance is a narration with music based on the book, “A Symphony of Whales,” by Steve Schuch.  It takes its inspiration from a true story about whales stranded in the Siberian Sea, and the heroic efforts by villagers and a Russian icebreaker to free them.  Music plays a key role in the heartwarming rescue–and audience members get to participate in a crucial decision!  VSO String Quartet members are Sofia Hirsch and David Gusakov, violins; Hilary Hatch, viola; and Dieuwke Davydov, cello.  Our special guest narrator is Melissa Ewell, a music teacher from Swanton.  Enjoy this high-energy presentation, which includes a parade of costumes, and treats to take home afterwards!

Tickets: Free! Seating is limited so pick your ticket up today at Haskell Free Library, MAC Center for the Arts, or North Country Hospital.
