The Vermont Symphony Orchestra's 2005 TD Banknorth Summer Festival Tour -- It's Showtime! -- features music with a theater/stage connection, including the Polovestsian Dances by Borodin featured in the musical Kismet, Copland's "Buckaroo Holiday" from his ballet Rodeao, and Rossini's overture to the comic opera The Barber of Seville. Conductory Anthony Princiotti and the VSO pay tribute to Broadway with past and present Broadway nits such as My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera, and Gershwin's Porgy & Bess. The performance concludes with the 1812 Overture accompanied by a crescendo of fireworks against the backdrop of Vermont's summer outdoor splendor.
